You can meet Sophie and Alex, students at the Architectural Association School of Architecture, usually every Tuesday and Wednesday at the Berwick Street Market in Soho, London. Their mission is to support the street marketers. Some of them are working there since more than 20 years and are now facing serious problems threatening their survival, such as increasing costs, a drop in trade and less goodwill by the council. To raise awareness for the marketer’s needs Sophie and Alex are inviting creatively and passionately people to tell what they wish for the street market. Our favourite initiative is the replica of the street market: Pedestrians can paint their ideas and wishes for the market.

“The theme is the dove, which brings together the symbolism of the messenger for the ancient games and the modern reference to peace and unity.“
